About

Joel is a Master’s student at UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney, Australia, where he studied Politics and International Relations. He has worked as a research intern in the New South Wales Parliament and as a liaison officer for Global Affairs Canada at the 2024 CPTPP Conference in Vancouver. He also works as a Program Assistant for the Konwakai Chair in the Centre for Japanese Research at UBC, focusing on questions of global order and great power competition. At CSDI, he will be working on election-related projects and events preparation.
